I love it when you watch a movie with little or no expectations and it blows you away.
We watched The Big Kahuna this weekend. As soon as it started I found the dialogue so fresh and fast and cerebral that I knew it must have been a play. I looked it up; it was.
Kevin Spacey is pretty consistently great. He does not disappoint here. Danny DeVito isn't always so, but I loved his sad character in this film. And he has the best speech of all toward the end of the movie. This speech made me take notice, caused me to sit on the edge of my seat, hanging on every word. I wish I'd had that speech in my head while I lived in Colorado. It could have served me well in a number of conversations there.
I won't spoil it for you. I just hope you'll watch it too.
